The official commissioning of the newly constructed Divisional Police Headquarters in Effiduase was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The event marked a significant milestone in the enhancement of security infrastructure and law enforcement operations within the Sekyere East District and its surrounding areas. The ceremony brought together traditional leaders, government officials, security service commanders, heads of departments, and members of the community.
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer delivered by Rev. Sampson Amankwah, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches. In his prayer, he invoked God’s blessings upon the new facility, the personnel who would serve there, and the community it is intended to protect. He prayed for wisdom, courage, and integrity for the officers and urged all stakeholders to support the police in maintaining law and order.
In attendance were; Nana Baffour Agyare Nimfour II – Krontihene of Effiduase, Nana Sefa Boakye Kanto – Nifahene of Asokore, Hon. Ibrahim Adams – District Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Adiyiah – Former DCE, Mr. Issac Asante – Representative of Former DCE Hon. Mary B. Marfo, Ms. Agatha Ahia – District Coordinating Director, ACP Yussif Iddrisu Tanko – Regional 2IC, Ashanti North, Heads of Security Services, and Heads of Departments.

1. Address by the Chairman, Nana Baffour Agyare Nimfour II – Krontihene of Effiduase:
The Chairman expressed profound gratitude to the government and all stakeholders for the completion of the project. He emphasized that security is the foundation of development and that the presence of a Divisional Police Headquarters would boost investor confidence and enhance the general well-being of residents. He pledged the continued support of the traditional council and the community to the Ghana Police Service.
2. Remarks by the DCE, Hon. Ibrahim Adams:
The gathering was formally welcomed, and the purpose of the ceremony was outlined as the official handing over and commissioning of the Divisional Police Headquarters to begin full operational duties. It was noted that the project was initiated to decentralize police operations, reduce response times to security incidents, and improve overall service delivery to the people of Effiduase and adjoining communities.
The District Chief Executive commended the efforts of all who contributed to the realization of the project. He highlighted the government’s commitment to resourcing security agencies and noted that the facility would serve as a model for other districts. He called on the police to uphold professionalism and work closely with the community to sustain peace and order.
3. Address by the Regional 2IC, Ashanti North, ACP Yussif Iddrisu Tanko:
ACP Yussif Iddrisu Tanko expressed appreciation for the new facility and acknowledged the support of the District Assembly and traditional authorities. He assured the public that the Ghana Police Service would utilize the facility efficiently and effectively. He urged officers to maintain discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
4. Remarks by Former DCE, Hon. Osei Adiyiah:
The former DCE recounted the early stages of the project and expressed joy at seeing it completed. He encouraged the community to take ownership of the facility and cooperate with the police to ensure its longevity and success.
The Divisional Police Headquarters was officially commissioned with the cutting of the ribbon and the unveiling of the plaque by Hon. Ibrahim Adams. Dignitaries were subsequently taken on a guided tour of the facility, which includes offices, a charge office, cells, an armoury, and conference rooms, among other amenities.
Ms. Beatrice Antwiwaa delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government, the District Assembly, traditional authorities, the Ghana Police Service, and all who contributed in diverse ways to the successful completion and commissioning of the project. She particularly thanked the contractors, the chiefs, and the community for their support and urged all to continue working together for the development of Effiduase.
The ceremony was brought to a close with a closing prayer by Mohammed Aziz, representative of the Effiduase Central Mosque Imam. He prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity for the community and the nation. He also prayed for protection and guidance for the police officers who would be stationed at the new headquarters.
