The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, undertook a working tour to the Sekyere East District Assembly on August 25, 2026. The tour was designed to assess ongoing development projects, engage with traditional authorities, and interact with staff of the District Assembly. He was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Chief Director, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere East, the District Coordinating Director, and the Presiding Member of the Assembly.
The Regional Minister commenced his working tour with a courtesy call on Nana Konadu Yiadom (Effiduasehemaa) and the newly enstooled chief of Effiduase, Professor Nick Osei-Gerning, who was recently installed with the stool name Nana Osei Frimping Ampem Ababio II. The Minister congratulated the new chief on his enstoolment, which took place barely a week prior, and pledged the support of the Regional Coordinating Council in fostering development within the traditional area. The chief, a UK-based cardiologist and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), expressed his commitment to collaborating with the government to continue the developmental agenda of his late predecessor, Nana Adu Ameyaw II.
The Minister proceeded to inspect the 1 No. 3-unit classroom Block with Head Teacher’s Office, Staff Common Room and Store Room at Presby School Complex in Effiduase. The inspection focused on the state of existing educational infrastructure and the learning environment. The Minister underscored the government’s commitment to improving basic education through the provision of quality facilities.
The tour continued to the Effiduase Senior High/Commercial School, where the Minister inspected several critical GetFund projects:
- Teachers’ Bungalow: The Minister assessed the progress of construction works and emphasized the importance of providing decent accommodation to motivate teaching staff.
- Boys’ and Girls’ Dormitory: He inspected the facilities to ensure they meet the required standards for student accommodation.
- ICT Lab: The Minister highlighted the importance of ICT in modern education and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project.
- Administration Block: He assessed the condition and functionality of the school’s administrative offices.
The Regional Minister visited the proposed site for the construction of the 24-hour economy market in the district. He was briefed on the project, which forms part of the government’s nationwide initiative to boost local trade and economic growth by enabling continuous business operations. The market is expected to feature modern facilities, including lockable shops and storage spaces. Dr. Amoakohene also visited the Effiduase Divisional Police Headquarters which is near completion.
The Regional Minister concluded his tour with an interaction with the staff of the Sekyere East District Assembly. He commended them for their dedication to duty and urged them to continue working diligently to implement government policies and programs for the benefit of the people. He also used the opportunity to assess the performance of the district’s administration.
Hon. Ibrahim Adams, the District Chief Executive assured the minister cooperation to complete the projects initiated in the districts and to lobby for more, especially construction of roads.
The working tour of the Ashanti Regional Minister to the Sekyere East District Assembly successfully achieved its objectives of assessing the progress of government projects, strengthening relationships with traditional authorities, and engaging with the district’s administrative staff.
