Re-election of Hon. Ernest Atta Duruye as Presiding Member of Sekyere East District.
A special meeting of the 9th Sekyere East District Assembly to elect a presiding member was held at District Health Directorate Conference Hall on Wednesday 25th March 2026.
The meeting was chaired by the District Coordinating Director Mrs. Agartha Ahia
The District Chief Executive Hon. Ibrahim Adams gave his opening remarks before the commencement of the Election, urged the Assembly members to vote once for the aspirant for making the conduct of the election very easy.
The election was conducted by the District Electoral officer Mrs. Henrietta Sarpong,
The former presiding member Hon.Ernest Atta Duruye only filled his nomination for the portfolio. He pulled 36 out of 39 vote cast. Thus 36 YES, 2 NO and1 spoiled ballot, representing as 90%.
The presiding member was sworn in by the Juaben circuit court judge, Her Honour Hagar Addo ESQ, in his acceptance speech, Hon Ernest Atta Duruye conveyed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the District Chief Executive Hon Ibrahim Adams, Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore constituency Hon Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Colleague Assembly Members, Heads of Departments and other stakeholders.
He espoused to work hard with all stakeholders of the assembly to ensure growth and sustain development of the district.
Present at the meeting were Hon. Ibrahim Adams (DCE) Mrs. Agartha Ahia, District Coordinating Director, Mr. Edward Gyamfi, Ashanti Regional Deputy Director of Electoral Commission, Hon. Assembly Members and Heads of Department/Unit of the District Assembly.
